An Excel workbook that reads a P6 export and builds the whole Earned Value picture: SPI, CPI, EAC, VAC and TCPI, cumulative S-curves with the data date marked, and schedule and cost variance broken down by WBS. Getting EV out of P6 is clunky, so most planners end up with a private workbook of stacked lookups that only they can operate. It works until the month it does not: one dragged formula, one WBS node that moved, and the number in front of the steering committee is wrong. A report that has been wrong once gets checked forever after, which costs more time than the reporting did.

Every KPI card carries its own derivation beside it — SPI 0.89 = 7,920 ÷ 8,880. A forecast nobody can audit does not get used, and EAC has more than one accepted definition, so the sheet states which one produced the number.
A single activity export holds one figure per activity as of the data date; there is no time in it to plot against. The workbook takes a P6 resource spread or period snapshots when they exist, and falls back to spreading each activity’s budget across its own dates when they do not — and says on its face which of the three it used.
Only the plan continues past it. A curve where all three lines reach the right-hand edge is the most common mistake in EVM reporting: it makes an unfinished project look complete.
